A Dijon - Monday morning
Monday morning, I snuck out and wandered, looking for more croissants and a cafe au lait. I found both. I also snapped a few more photos. I know you are thinking, “What? Dan has a camera?”
Here are the gargoyles at Notre Dame from the side.
One of the many half-timbered shops in the area.
A plant I cannot identify, but it was pretty.
Another shop
All these churches are starting to run together. I’m sure this one was old, important, and had something noteworthy. Damned if I know right now.
A manhole cover in the cobblestones
Some of the detail in the carvings of the timbers in the buildings.
Vicki and I then followed the Owl Trail. Somewhere along the line, the Owl became a good luck symbol of Dijon. The owl below has been there for hundreds of years, and the practice is to touch it with your left hand and make a wish. I always wish to come back to France.
It’s not a French town without an arch somewhere to celebrate.
A park along the way.
This house has both a cat and an owl standing guard.

And finally, in a tabac, a Pong “kit.” Really? You need a kit?

This was a gift to the city in 1382 (taken from Belgium), and is atop the cathedral. The main guy is Jacquemart. But he was mocked for not having a spouse, so they added a wife. They were mocked for not having kids, so they added a son, then a daughter.

Time to grab some lunch for the train and pack up. Off to Paris.
