Trains in France

One thing about French trains is that they always run on time. Except for Train 2733 today.

Thank God.

We left our flat on time (Dan said that we were 15 minutes late, but who’s counting) and called for an uber. The three-minute wait that the app indicated turned into 14. So we load into the car at 12:29 to go to Gare de l’est for a 12:58 train. Um, traffic. Crazy drivers. Even crazier bikers. Cars that don’t move through green traffic lights.

So y’all remember the commercial in which OJ Simpson ran sprints through an airport? (This was good practice for running from police, it turns out.) That was us, running from platform 1, where we found a very nice security person who told us where we needed to go, to platform 27. Platform 27 is the last frickin’ platform in the station. I just knew that we were going to miss the train, but the SNCF gods were smiling on us. The train was late leaving.

And so we are on the way to Reims. Thank you, SNCF, for not being efficient today!
